In 2020, the Cultural Alliance of Medfield could not put on its annual Holiday Stroll due to the pandemic. This festive family event typically featured 30+ artists at three indoor sites, food trucks, carolers, an ice sculpting demonstration, an outdoor tree lighting ceremony, and more. Medfield TV stepped in to produce a virtual live stream for the event which I directed and spearheaded production for.
Production for pre-recorded content started in August with artist interviews either on location or in our studio. I coordinated with the artists to schedule their interviews, planned a series of questions to ask related to their work, and helped them feel comfortable on camera.
Here are two examples of interviews that I directed, filmed, and edited:
We also included music segments throughout the show. Here is an example that was filmed and submitted by the choir from United Church of Christ in Medfield, that I then edited using split screen effects.
The final result of the Virtual Holiday Stroll was a two-hour livestream event broadcasted to our cable channels and YouTube that featured two hosts live in the Medfield TV studio, pre-recorded segments of artist interviews and music, and a live on-site tree lighting. I was behind the scenes making sure the show went as planned, down to the second. I operated the switchboard to go between camera angles and cut to segments. This was one of my greatest accomplishments at Medfield TV. I'm very proud of the results and having been able to provide this entertainment for the community.
